Ambergris Caye is a beautiful island bordered by the clear blue Caribbean sea with white sandy beaches and palm trees swaying in the tropical breeze. Whether you are looking for a vacation where you do nothing but lie in a hammock or if you want some adventure (or maybe you want a bit of both?), this is the place for you.
The largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere is located literally right off shore, where you’ll find fabulous diving and snorkeling just a quick boat trip away. Go fishing, paddle boarding, sailing, kayaking, beach walking, or biking. Take a trip to see the Blue Hole or Maya ruins, go cave tubing or zip lining, visit the fabulous zoo or take a jungle river tour. Or snooze in a hammock on the beach and do nothing for a week — it’s one of the most laid back places around!
The narrow island is about 26 miles long, basically going northwest/southeast. San Pedro is the only town on the island, located about 6 miles from the southernmost tip (map below!).
